Investment Approved to Improve Care for Stroke Survivors
I was pleased to learn that NHS Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board has approved a recurrent £2.5 million investment to strengthen community stroke rehabilitation services.
More than 3,400 people experience a stroke across Norfolk and Suffolk each year, with around 37,000 living with the long-term effects. This funding will provide around 40 additional specialist roles, helping patients access rehabilitation earlier and closer to home.
The investment is also expected to release around 7,400 hospital bed days each year, easing pressure on hospitals and improving patient flow – particularly welcome as we approach winter.
It is encouraging to see stroke services being strengthened across our region, and my thanks go to our NHS staff for the incredible work they do every day.
