Greater Anglia’s New and Improved Timetable!
Excellent news for local rail users: improvements are here! Greater Anglia’s new timetable will make your journeys across Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket easier and smoother, with extra service calls and additional peak-time services across our local networks.
Beginning on 17 May, the new extensive set of service improvements will benefit customers and communities on its regional routes. These changes reflect increasing passenger demand on these key routes and is possible due to the introduction of new trains over the past 6 years.
Key changes that will positively affect Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket:
Extra intercity service calls at Stowmarket on Mondays to Saturdays, giving a half hourly intercity service for most of the day
An extra morning peak Ipswich to Cambridge service (on the newly named St Edmund’s Line) and evening peak Cambridge to Ipswich service on Mondays to Fridays will benefit Bury St Edmunds by increasing capacity for commuters
Enhancements across the wider network will also benefit Stowmarket by improving interchange opportunities at Ipswich
This major uplift in frequency, convenience, and capacity will hugely improve connectivity for residents, commuters and local businesses across our area. With rail fares frozen too, train travel is kept affordable, protecting people from inflation, and gives greater certainty over commuting and travel costs.
