March Newsletter – Out Now!
The latest edition of my monthly newsletter is now available, offering updates on the issues that matter to you and the work I’m doing as your MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
This month’s highlights include:
Affordable Homes in Elmswell – I visited Brook Gardens, a new not-for-profit housing development delivering sustainable, energy-efficient homes to meet local needs and support Labour’s national housing ambitions.
Tackling A134 Road Disruption – I chaired meetings with Suffolk Highways and developers to minimise disruption and protect residents, carers, and local businesses. Residents can now share their experiences via my new online portal.
Celebrating Local Heroes – Congratulations to my Constituency Support Manager, Tom Howard, on receiving a national Autism Hero Award in recognition of his tireless advocacy and inclusive community cinema project.
Investing in Skills for the Future – I’ve backed new technical excellence colleges in Suffolk to help local students gain the skills they need for rewarding careers in construction, engineering, and beyond.
Strengthening Safeguards in Assisted Dying Laws – In Parliament, I’ve supported amendments to ensure compassionate, multidisciplinary oversight in this deeply sensitive area.
Farewell to My Surgical Career – After nearly 50 years in the NHS, I’ve officially swapped the operating theatre for the House of Commons—but I’ll continue to be a strong advocate for local health services, including the rebuild of West Suffolk Hospital.
