Celebrating Community and Compassion at Number 10
Last night, I had the honour of attending the St George’s Day reception at Number 10 Downing Street — and I was proud to be joined by Amanda Bloomfield from Gatehouse, one of Bury St Edmunds’ most inspiring local charities.
Gatehouse supports people going through incredibly tough times — whether it’s providing food, household essentials, or simply a kind, listening ear. Their work is rooted in compassion and a deep commitment to the dignity of every individual.
It was a real pleasure to bring Amanda to Downing Street and to celebrate the values that St George’s Day represents: courage, service, and community. At a time when so many are facing hardship, the work of organisations like Gatehouse is more vital than ever.
As MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, I will always champion the incredible efforts of our local charities. They are the backbone of our towns — and they remind us that, even in difficult times, kindness and solidarity endure.
