Posters for the Planet!

This week, I received 30 brilliant ‘Posters for the Planet’ from pupils at Norton Primary School.

They included many thoughtful ideas, big questions and powerful messages about protecting our planet. I was really impressed by the effort, creativity and thought put into it.

This Labour Government is working hard to deliver on the key climate promises made in our manifesto. Making Britain a clean energy superpower remains one of our missions - this is how we are delivering on that:

  • Committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050 - reducing emissions and transforming our transport

  • Decarbonising our electricity system to accomplish 100% clean power by 2030

  • Launching Great British Energy - our publicly owned clean-energy investment company

These steps are about making sure the UK looks after the environment now and in the future.

Thank you to the students of Norton Primary School for raising an important issue that we all care about deeply. I wrote back to every pupil, expressing my gratitude for the time and effort they put into these posters.

The climate and nature crisis is the greatest long-term global challenge that we face. I am proud to see young pupils voice their concerns, but also this Government is acting decisively to tackle it!
