Raising Awareness of Dementia

On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending a dementia awareness event at Stowmarket Golf Club, organised by the wonderful Tricia Forrest-Morley, a local Alzheimer's Society campaigner.

The event welcomed over 100 people throughout the day, bringing together carers, professionals and local organisations to raise awareness of dementia and highlight the vital support available across Suffolk.

I was delighted to deliver the keynote speech and take part in a question-and-answer session, hearing first-hand about the challenges facing people living with dementia and their families.

One particularly powerful experience was the Dementia Virtual Tour, which offered an insight into some of the everyday difficulties faced by those living with the condition. It was a valuable reminder of the importance of compassion, understanding and appropriate support.

Dementia affects so many families, yet too many people remain unaware of the help available to them. We must do more to improve awareness, support unpaid carers and ensure people living with dementia receive the dignity, care and treatment they deserve.

My sincere thanks to Tricia and everyone involved in organising such an informative and important event.
