Calling for Better Paediatric Audiology Services

I raised the importance of improving paediatric audiology services and ensuring children with hearing loss receive the support they need at the earliest possible opportunity.

A recent review of paediatric audiology services highlighted significant variation in provision across the country. When hearing problems are not identified or supported early enough, they can have a lasting impact on a child’s speech, language, development and education.

This is an issue I care deeply about. Audiology professionals play a vital role in identifying hearing problems and supporting children and their families, and every child should be able to access high-quality services regardless of where they live.

I was pleased to hear the Government recognise the importance of audiology and early intervention, and I will continue to press for children to receive the right support at the right time.
