Your Voice on Immigration

On Monday, I joined colleagues on the Home Affairs Committee for the launch of a new report looking at public views on work-related immigration.

Nearly 100 people from across the country took part in a citizen-assembly-style process, run in partnership with Demos and King’s College London, to discuss how work-related immigration should be managed.

One of the key principles to emerge was the importance of prioritising UK workers while ensuring migrants are treated fairly.

It was a valuable example of how public deliberation can help inform Parliament’s work, and the Committee will now take this forward through a new inquiry on immigration.
